Why convert Mobi or Azw3 to Epub?

Mobi and Azw3 are Amazon’s Kindle formats. They work on Kindle devices and apps, but almost every other e-reader and app (Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, PocketBook, Calibre and most Android readers) expects a standard Epub. Converting lets you read your own books wherever you like, without being locked to one device.

What it does

It reads the Kindle KF8 (Azw3) structure, rebuilds each chapter as clean XHTML, reconstructs the table of contents with working links, pulls across the cover and images, and packages it all into a valid Epub 3. The text and formatting of your book are preserved. Nothing is rewritten or summarised. There is nothing to install, no Calibre and no plugins: once the page has loaded, the conversion even works offline.

Is this legal?

Converting a book you own between formats for your own personal use is generally fine. This tool only works on books without DRM. It cannot and does not remove copy protection. If a file is DRM-protected it will be rejected with a clear message.

What about old Mobi files?

This converter handles modern Kindle books (KF8 / Azw3, and KF8-based .mobi and .azw). Very old Mobi6-only files are detected and reported rather than producing a broken result.
